Cold Ashes & Fiery Seas — Episode 1: The Last Night of Troy
Troy is burning. Aeneas fights for a city its gods have already abandoned, reaches Priam's courtyard forty paces too late, carries his father out of the fire and leads a hundred and eleven survivors to the hill of Demeter, where at first light they watch the gods burn.
1. A burning street. Aeneas and Achates hold the Greeks back: "They came out of a horse, Aeneas. A horse."2. Priam's courtyard. Polites lies at the altar of Zeus and Neoptolemus stands over the king. Aeneas sees it all from forty paces away and cannot reach them.3. The Greeks pull the lower town apart stone by stone. Aeneas lifts his father onto his shoulders, takes his son's hand and gathers everyone he can find.4. The hill of Demeter at first light. A hundred and eleven survivors turn to watch the statues of the gods burn.
